Outcomes
Young people have developed a variety of creative ideas to promote positive relationships in their communities.
Some of their initiatives are shared below.
Social Scripts
When banter crosses the line
It’s not always easy to tell when a joke turns hurtful. To help, a group of Year 8 and 9 students created simple social scripts to defuse tense moments and offer ideas on what to say.
What jars you?
We invite young people to share the challenges they face in their school communities. Through this activity from AGENDA, they reflect on how they feel in different spaces and identify what makes them feel unsafe or upset. Here are some of their responses.
Kindness is Key
A group of 11 and 12 year olds in a SEN school created this film focusing on the importance of kindness. Featuring an original song, thoughtful messages, and animations, the students aim to spread the powerful message that 'Kindness is Key.'
Best Bits/Hardest Bits
We don’t always pause to appreciate the joy friendships bring—it's easy to focus on the tough parts. These reflections from young people spark honest conversations about the ups and downs of relationships.
Help Don’t Hurt
This group of 14 year olds decided to create their own messages about the changes they want to see in their community and curated a short film to share them around their school.
Stop/Start Statements
Feeling safe and being treated fairly matters. Young people say that their voices are sometimes ignored, or that they often don’t feel comfortable to say what they really mean. Here are a selection of calls to action that Positive Relationships advocates want people to START and STOP doing.
